Subject: Kenwood TH-235A
Extended (MARS) frequency modification for the Kenwood TH-235A is as
follows:
1. Switch off the power and remove battery pack. Remove three (3) screws
from the back of the transceiver. Locate the DC and MIC jacks and remove
the plugs. Carfully seperate lower part of the back cover and remove
from the handheld.
2. Remove the inner partition. First lightly push the charging
electrodes and pass them through the holes of the inner partitiom.
3. Remove antenna, VOL and Tuning control knobs. Remove rubber cover
from top of radio.
4.Remove inner assembly and locate green wire soldered to two (2) pads
behind the Volume control on the PC board. Carfully unsolder one side of
the green wire, tape that end off so it will not come in contact with
any other part of the circuit.
5. Reassemble the radio, reset the microprocessor by pressing [F] and
the Power on switch at the same time.
This should allow transmit operation from 136.00 MHz to 173.995 MHz.
Remember, unless you have authorization to transmit outside the amateur
frequencies, you can risk losing your hard earned license.
