Subject: EXPANDED TX ON THE ALINCO DJ-191 Here's how to do it! To enable the expanded TX (MARS / CAP) on the Alinco DJ-191 Ht you must perform the following:Remove the ant and the battery Remove (4) screws from the back cover Remove the back cover This is a bit tricky as the front half of the HT is connected to the RF deck via a flex circuit opposite the PTT button Also the dust caps on the BNC conn and under the Tuning knob will cause the case to be difficult to separate Be patient Once opened you will see a short blue jumper wire marked "J1" on the silkscreen to the right of the large (approx 1" square) surface mount chip on the front half of the HT Cut this wire Dress the ends so that they don't short to something else and smoke you rig! Use some heat shrink tubing or electrical tape to protect the ends Re-assemble the HT Re-attach the battery and ant Perform a reset by pressing and holding the function button while powering on the unit. This will reset and wipe out any programming that was previously stored Sorry, but that's what you have to do! The unit should now TX on the MARS /CAP freq.'s I had to do two resets before the extd TX worked DONT DO ANY OF THIS IF YOU DO NOT HAVE MARS / CAP FREQ PRIVILIDGES! AND DONT DARE TX ON ANY COMMERCIAL FREQ.'S EVEN IF YOU HAVE A LICENSE TO DO SO AS THIS RADIO IS NOT TYPE ACCEPTED! Source QRZ: The Windows Ham Radio CDROM |
